Sauron Web 0.0.4
Update

Well after 4 rewrites, 4 complete design changes, and still only about 1/4 of the way to a finished version, plus trying to find the time in my busy work schedule to sit down and code; I'm sure progress can at last be made.

I am now almost at a point where I can have an online demo with the current finished modules, once I'm happy that they are bug free and stable.

Here are some screen shots of the completed modules ( they are 1024*768 ):

sauron_web_1_small.jpg (3501 bytes) sauron_web_2_small.jpg (2767 bytes) sauron_web_3_small.jpg (2700 bytes) sauron_web_4_small.jpg (2680 bytes)  sauron_web_5_small.jpg (2916 bytes)

Web layout design is not my strongest point (neither is my spelling), so any suggestions or ideas to improve the layout, would be greatly appreciated.  Anyone wishing to contribute to the development of  Sauron Web, please contact me at the email address on the www.sauron.uklinux.net main page.

Sauron Web will be released under the General Public License and a download of the completed modules will be available shortly.

Current design changes:

  • Sauron now uses language files, so users can have the system in their preferred language if available
  • More secure data entry validation
  • Obscene language censorship on topic/reply/news/comment posts

Finished Modules:

  • Board
  • Forum
  • User

The completed Sauron Web will include:

  • Individual topic boards each with their own: Forums, File Link Databases and News
  • Each board can be maintained by a separate system operator (with overall control by a single system admin)
  • Access to the boards can be assigned to: individual users or user groups
  • Users will be able to send and receive messages from other users
  • Comments can be posted to news bulletins
  • plus other bits & pieces

Sauron Web is written in PHP 4.0 and uses currently only MySQL as its database server.
